Earlier this month it was announced that Aventon would be lowering the prices of all their existing ebike models in order to make room for newer models planned for 2023. That’s exciting for two reasons. Number one, Aventon makes great ebikes that offer a lot of value for consumers so a 20% drop in price is a big win for customers. Number two, it sounds like we’re about to get exciting news in the coming weeks and months about upgraded versions of their ebikes.

What We Love About Aventon
Quality – They make very high quality ebikes that provide a lot of value. Every electric bike that Aventon produces comes with name brand components, like Shimano and Kenda. Those are not only reliable brands but if you ever need to replace a part for whatever reason, you’ll have no trouble finding it.
Aventon controls the entire manufacturing process from start to finish so unlike many other ebike brands, who source from 3rd party factories, Aventon can more easily maintain quality control with each bike. You can tell that Aventon places a lot of emphasis on the look and feel of their ebikes, especially the beautifully welded frames and the gorgeous paint job on each model.
As far as aesthetics and quality go, Aventon really stands out among its peers. Their bikes are always sleek looking because they opt to conceal the battery within its design. The colors are always super eye-catching because of the quality of paint and because of the attention to detail in the manufacturing process.
Bike repairs are easy – They have a really extensive dealer network that includes 800 bike shops across the US as well as a partnership with Best Buy. If you live near one of their shops you can test ride their ebikes rather easily and there’s even an option to order online and have it delivered AND assembled at your local shop. If you’re not mechanically inclined this is a BIG advantage over other ebike brands that don’t have dealer or service networks.
Performance – Maybe the most important reason for Aventon’s success and the thing we probably love the most about this company is the ride performance of their ebikes. Whether it’s the Aventure, the Level Commuter or the Pace 500 you know you’re going to get a high performance ebike that handles extremely well and pedals very efficiently. The drive-trains always seem to provide a very smooth pedaling experience and their motors do not ever lack for torque.
Speaking of torque, Aventon offers torque sensors with the newest version of its Level model, the Level.2. You don’t see a lot of ebike manufacturers in this class that offer torque sensors and we believe the Level.2 is going to set the tone for the next generation of Aventon ebikes. If every new Aventon model came equipped with torque sensors that would be a huge deal and yet another reason to trust this brand.
Discounts – They do a really great job of offering promotions and sales year round. Just follow their newsletter or subscribe to their text alerts and you’ll see what I mean. During the holidays they consistently offered many amazing deals. We saw discounts for as much as $300 during Cyber Week!
We love it when brands reward their customers for their support and here’s another area where Aventon is leading the way.
Aventure.2 Review ($1899)
In our original review of the original Aventon Aventure, we gave a glowing review and called it “the best fat tire ebike under $2,000.”
The fact that the Aventon Aventure comes with a high torque, 750W Bafang motor and high grade hydraulic disc brakes is reason enough to buy this fat tire ebike. Throw in its beautiful design, its multiple frame and color configurations and the fact that it’s manufactured by Aventon and you have a package that’s hard to compete with
It was hard to find fault with one of our favorite ebikes of 2022 but we did find one glaring negative with the Aventure:
One of the only gripes we had with the Aventure is that it doesn’t come with torque sensors, which would come in handy since the controller limits the use of throttle from a standstill.
Of course we can’t take all the credit for this but Aventon was clearly moved by the “wisdom of the crowds.” Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the latest version of the Aventure, the Aventure.2, now with a torque sensor, among other exciting improvements.
This fat tire ebike still sports a 750 watt (1130 peak watt) Bafang motor, a massive 720 watt hour battery, hydraulic disc brakes, front suspension and fenders on both tires. Those are impressive specs already but with the inclusion of a torque sensor, which provides near-instant response from the motor, this is a game-changer. The previous Aventure, although powerful, was sluggish off the line. Afterall we are talking about a 77lb ebike! The Aventure.2 provides a much more satisfying riding experience that ebikes with cadence sensors cannot match.
The other important enhancements with this fat tire ebike are the inclusion of a rear rack, rear turn signals situated on either side of the rear wheel, and not one but two rear lights for better night time visibility.
We are preparing our full review of the Aventure.2 and hope to have it ready in the coming days but as far as first impressions go, I gotta say we’re pretty pumped! It was welcome news that one of our favorite fat tire ebikes not only improved but is also reasonably priced at only $1899.
Level.2 Review ($1799)
If we’re talking about commuter-style ebikes under $2,000, Aventon’s Level.2 might be the class of its category. How many other commuter ebikes in this class include a 750-watt motor (equipped with torque sensors), hydraulic disc brakes, front suspension, a 672-watt hour battery and a full-color LCD display. On top of all this the Level.2 includes rear and front fenders, a rear rack and Aventon’s proprietary mobile app to track ride data and even connect with other Aventon riders- all for only $1799.
Another thing we love about this ebike is the artfully crafted frame. As we’ve come to expect, Aventon does a magnificent job of integrating this battery, as well as most of the electrical wiring, within the Level.2 frame. It’s honestly one of the best-looking ebikes on the market today and a big reason why the Level.2 is a top seller for this brand.
This is an 8-speed ebike with a 46-tooth crankset and 27.5”x2.2” puncture-resistant tires. Thanks to the increased pedaling efficiency made possible by the torque sensor, there’s not much holding you back from climbing speeds of up to 28mph in the blink of an eye. This is a bike that will help you really rule the road
Pace 500.2 Review ($1399)
Aventon’s first-ever ebike, The Pace, was designed as an upright, speedy cruiser- straightforward and easy but super fun to ride. The upgraded Pace 500.2 takes this concept to the next level with advanced technology, Aventon’s new full-color LCD display, integrated rear brake lights and powerful hydraulic disc brakes.
This is an ebike that doesn’t scream ebike and what I mean by that is that it’s got a lean look to it. The frame is angular, the battery is integrated, the wires are well hidden and it comes in at a relatively svelte 52 lbs. It doesn’t come with a rear rack or fenders but that’s ok because it does come with a torquey 500-watt motor and very speedy 27.5” x 2.2” tires with reflective sidewalls. You know what that means. It means this bike is pretty fast and it doesn’t take much to climb up to 28mph in pedal assist 4 or 5 and on the highest gear. This is a true recreational bike that we thoroughly enjoyed riding around town.
Now that the price has dropped $200 the Aventon Pace 500.2 is a relative steal at only $1399. If you want a light handling, super quick and fun commuter bike this is an excellent choice because of its integrated components, app sync functionality, and 614-watt-hour battery. All models come with an adjustable stem and not only are there two frame sizes but there is also a step-thru version. That’s another great thing about Aventon. Not only do they make great ebikes with amazing tech, they also do an amazing job of offering multiple sizing options to accommodate every type of rider!
Sinch Review ($1499)
The other fat tire ebike in the Aventon fleet is the Sinch which is now only $1499 after the recent price reduction. This tough looking ebike comes in two configurations: a step-over folding frame and a step-through folding frame. For the purposes of this article we’re going to focus on the step-through frame, which packs a 500 watt (750 peak) rear hub motor and a substantial 672 watt hour battery.
Like most folding electric bikes the Sinch has a heavy duty frame and 20”x4” tires for off-road adventures. At 68 lbs it’s on the heavier side but of course, a lot of that weight is concentrated in those big tires and its larger than average battery. The beauty of a folding bike is that despite its weight you can easily fold it into a more compact package for easier transport and storage.
To round it all out, the Sinch also comes with Tektro mechanical disc brakes, a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, and 45MM front suspension. The motor, as with most Aventon models, delivers a lot of power. The throttle provides ample thrust to get you moving quickly from a standstill and also displays impressive hill climbing capabilities. Although the controller is preset to cap your speed at 20mph the Sinch can easily be upgraded to 24mph (in pedal assist), using the LCD display or the mobile app.
It’s a crowded field now with folding ebikes, thanks to the success of Lectric Ebikes, but Aventon has the infrastructure to compete with all those other brands. And at only $1499, you won’t find another ebike more powerful and with this size of battery in this price range.
Soltera Review ($1199)
If you know anything about Top5ebikes you know that we love light, single speed ebikes. That’s why we were disappointed to learn that Aventon recently decided to discontinue the Soltera, which was the only single speed ebike in its fleet. In fact, you can now only buy the 7-speed version of the Soltera, as they clear out remaining stock. At $1199 this is in line with similar ebikes like the Propella 7S and the Ride1up Roadster, which happens to be a belt-drive ebike.
We enjoy the agile nature of bikes like the Soltera that can stop on a dime, are easy to carry and provide a more traditional bike-riding experience. You know the zippy 350 watt motor is there, but it doesn’t take over. It’s more of a give and take with the rider that provides light, or not so light, depending on your mood, exercise for those days when you just wanna feel the sun on your face.
Besides the 350 watt motor you also get a smallish 350 watt hour concealed battery, Tektro mechanical disc brakes, a Shimano derailleur, a left side thumb throttle and 5 modes of pedal assist. The bike weighs only 43 lbs (as a 7-speed) making it the lightest by far of all the Aventon ebikes. These specs are more or less similar to the other single-speed ebikes we mentioned but because the Soltera is made by Aventon, you get the benefit of high tech features like a full color LCD display and integrated rear lights. That’s a lot of technology for only $1199 so you’ll have to move fast if you wanna scoop one before they are gone forever!
