Why Did Ride1up Discontinue the Core-5

The Ride1up Core-5 was discontinued earlier this year for reasons that are unclear. This affordable, entry level commuter ebike was popular early on because it combined a no-frills design with elements of higher caliber bikes, like a 750 watt motor and class 3 capabilities.

It’s possible that the Core-5 provided an early platform for the recently released Ride1up Turris and served as a prototype of sorts. Maybe it’s less of a misstep and more of a model evolution. Either way consumers win because the Turris is a significant improvement on the Core-5 but comes at a price that’s equally appealing. What you get with the Ride1up Turris is a ultra affordable, class 3 commuter ebike packed with a ton of great value.
