Things we didn’t like about the Pace 500.2

Despite its many positive features, there are a few areas where the Aventon Pace 500 could be improved. Additionally, the lack of a rack reduces the bike’s utility for carrying cargo or attaching accessories.

Another aspect that some riders might find annoying is that in order to turn on the Pace 500.2 you have to power on the battery first. The Aventure is also designed in a similar way and the dual-step process of turning on the battery first before activating the bike using the controller, although designed for safety, is a bit cumbersome and clumsy. Its neither a short press nor a long press to turn the battery on and on many occasions we had to try multiple times, applying just the right amount of pressure to activate it. Sometimes you just want to get up and go and this added delay can be a bit frustrating over time.

Lastly, we didnt love the stiffness of the stock saddle that comes with the Pace 500.2. It’s a common concern raised by other riders, as we encountered in our research, but it’s easily correctable. Lots of ebike brands, in order to keep the cost of the bike down, will opt for a less cushy saddle so this is not too alarming of a concern in this case. Also, seat comfort is subjective, and not every rider will take issue with this saddle. It’s perfectly adequate but at the same time lacks the cushiness of after-market saddles that are more explicitly designed for comfort.
