EBC Ebike Reviews

Electric Bike Company (EBC) was a California-based electric bike manufacturer founded in 2012 and known for its custom-built cruiser-style eBikes assembled in the USA. Headquartered in Newport Beach / Costa Mesa, California, EBC built a reputation for offering riders the ability to design and personalize their electric bike from frame color to battery size and accessories, blending casual cruising comfort with customizable options.

The brand became known for popular models like the Model R All-Terrain Cruiser, Model S Beach Cruiser, Model C Classic Cruiser, and Model J Moto-Style Cruiser, each featuring robust hub motors, relaxed geometry, and comfortable ride characteristics that appealed to lifestyle riders rather than performance-oriented cyclists. EBC’s bikes were delivered fully assembled and backed by extended warranties, attracting customers seeking a handcrafted, cruiser-focused eBike experience.

However, Electric Bike Company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2025, marking the end of its operations as a going concern. The company’s financial struggles culminated in the bankruptcy filing and subsequent liquidation of assets, ending its run as one of the more visible US-based eBike brands. The bankruptcy case was filed in California Central Bankruptcy Court, and the brand’s intellectual property, dealer network relationships, and remaining inventory are now being sold off, reflecting continued demand for repairs and parts for the bikes already on the road.

While EBC was known for American assembly, high customization, and comfort-oriented cruiser eBikes, its closure highlights broader challenges in the eBike industry, including supply chain costs, market saturation, and the post-pandemic slowdown in demand. Customers and dealers are now navigating warranty and support issues as assets and brand rights are transferred to new owners or liquidated.
