Impressive Specs and Design for a Budget Electric Cargo Bike

The Lectric Xpedition is designed with a lightweight frame made of 6000 series aluminum with multiple mounting points to help you customize your cargo carrying needs. At 68 pounds, the Lectric Xpediton may seem heavy due to its aluminum frame, but it’s actually on the lighter end of the spectrum for electric cargo bikes.

Despite being available in only one size and color (white), the XPedition’s low step over height caters to riders of varying heights. Additionally, the bike boasts cool-looking Lectric decals all over.

One of the main features of the XPedition and one that sets it apart from other affordable cargo ebikes (Rad Power BIkes RadWagon 4, Flyer L885, Eunorau Max Cargo) is having hydraulic brakes. As an example, Rad Power Bikes RadWagon 4, one of the most popular cargo ebikes, does not include hydraulic brakes. Having hydraulic brakes cannot be overstated as you’ll likely be carrying a decent amount of cargo and need good stopping power.  As a frequent rider of electric cargo bikes, I believe that this feature is truly impressive for an ebike at this price point.

The Lectric Xpediton’s low 18.75-inch standover height is an underrated feature that makes mounting and dismounting effortless. This is important for potential buyers and makes it more appealing than larger models like the Blix Packa and Rad Wagon 4.

The frame and low step over height lead to a very nimble electric cargo bike, one that is much more nimble and easy to ride than any other cargo ebike I’ve ridden. It feels very similar to riding the Tern GSD cargo ebike which also has a smaller turning radius relative to other large frame cargo ebikes. With its beginner-friendly design, the XPedition is a more approachable option for riders looking to tackle cargo ebikes.

The XPedition also comes with puncture-resistant standard 20-inch by 3-inch street tires for a smooth and stable ride on a wide range of terrains even when loaded to full capacity. You may choose to customize the tires, but these sizes are standard making tube replacement easy.

In terms of gearing, the Xpedition has an 11-28 tooth rear freewheel and a 52T front chainring for flawless and smooth operation. 

As with many electric cargo bikes, it has an IP65-rated water-resistant LED display that allows for easy glance and configuration. For instance, when carrying kids or a passenger, you can configure the menu to the passenger mode. This will automatically set the maximum speed to 10 mph. This is a smart option that takes care of your passenger’s comfort and safety in case you are tempted to add more firing power to your riding expedition and risk scaring off your passenger!

For enhanced stability when loading or parking this cargo ebike is equipped with a dual kickstand that is easy to operate.  I’ve published videos on my issues with kickstands on other cargo ebikes and I really like how easy it is to operate the kickstand on the Xpedition, even when carrying weight on the rear rack. 

When fully assembled, the bike measures 72 inches in length and 46 inches in height. With the handle bars folded down the height can be quickly adjusted down to 32 inches for easy, compact storage in your trunk, SUV, RV or closet.

Another unique feature of this ebike is its quick-release pedals which make the bike narrower when you want to put it away.  Aside from its folding mechanism, its details like this that allow Lectric’s Xpedition to be stored almost anywhere.
