First Impressions on the Magicycle Cruiser
The Magicycle Cruiser presents a harmonious fusion of style and practicality, starting with its robust core components. This fat tire ebike appears to be a strong competitor with the more established Himiway.
Comfort: Where Enjoyment Meets Practicality
Smooth Ride
With signature fat tires, the Magicycle Cruiser guarantees a smooth and stable ride, cushioning you from the road’s bumps and imperfections. Whether cruising through city streets or venturing onto trails, the comfort provided by these tires allows you to go further.
Enhanced Visibility and Safety
During nighttime escapades, the Cruiser’s integrated front and rear lights come into play, significantly enhancing visibility and ensuring safety. You’ll be able to explore under the moon and stars with peace of mind from having an illuminated path to follow.
Customizable Frame Options
The Cruiser comes in two frame options: a traditional step-over design or a step-through frame. This choice empowers riders to select the frame style that aligns with their preferences, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable ride tailored to individual needs.
Motor, Battery, and Brakes: Unleashing Performance and Control
Powerful Performance
Commanding 750-watt motor, accompanied by an impressive 52-volt ebike battery pushes the Magicycle Cruiser max speeds of 28 mph. This motor transcends technical specifications, delivering an exhilarating ride from the moment you engage the throttle. With a substantial 86 newton meters of torque, the Cruiser effortlessly accelerates, proving its might.
Reliable Origin
Setting itself apart from the competition, this 52v ebike Cruiser boasts a reputable Shengyi motor. Consumers are often left to guess about the maker of ebike motors, but Magicycle is upfront about this one. Shengyi has earned their reputation for producing long-lasting motors, giving you confidence when purchasing the Cruiser.
Ample Energy and Control
Keeping you on the move, a 52-volt, 15 amp-hour battery equips the Cruiser with ample energy for 30 to mile journeys, depending on your level of pedal assist. Also, its 86 Nm of torque doesn’t need much help climbing hills.
Test Ride and Performance of the Magicycle Fat-tire Ebike
Our test rides with the Magicycle Cruiser left us thoroughly impressed. Covering around 50 miles, including a range test, we experienced the ebike’s capabilities on several terrains. While rode on paved streets, and ventured onto light trails, where the Cruiser’s performance over rocks and bumps showcased its versatility.
The standout feature during our rides was the sheer power of the motor. Whether accelerating from a standstill or conquering inclines, the Cruiser exhibited a level of strength that would satisfy even the most demanding riders. The battery’s performance was equally impressive, offering a range of nearly 26 miles with throttle-only usage. This range is commendable and outperforms many pricier alternatives.
Comfort played a vital role in our assessment, and the Magicycle Cruiser excelled in this department. Riding for extended periods, we found the stock saddle and handlebars to be sufficiently comfortable, eliminating the desire for upgrades.
The Positives and the Compelling Value
The Magicycle Cruiser’s strengths shine brightly. The potent motor and substantial battery capacity combine to provide a thrilling ride experience that surpasses expectations. Unlike some competitors, Magicycle ebikes don’t skimp on extras—including a rear rack, full fenders, front and rear lights, and a repair kit with the purchase.
When compared to its popular rival, the Himiway, the Magicycle Cruiser offers superiority in the motor power and battery size departments. If those specs are your main concern, the Cruiser is the clear choice for you.
We’ve also reviewed the Magicycle Deer, offering more range and full suspension. Our experiences with this ebike manufacturer show good value for their prices.
Addressing the Drawbacks
However, no product is without its flaws and the Cruiser’s Achilles’ heel lies in its braking system. Despite efforts to adjust and fine-tune, the mechanical disc brakes fell short of expectations, making noise and delivering inadequate stopping power. An upgrade to hydraulic calipers would give you a more carefree riding experience.
Additionally, the ebike’s sizing might prove problematic. While the step over frame accommodates a majority of users, those on the cusp of the recommended height range might find it unwieldy. Luckily there is also a step-thru edition of this bike.
The Verdict: A High-Value Contender
Amongst affordable fat tire ebikes, the Magicycle Cruiser stakes its claim as a high-value contender. Priced less than $1,500, it offers a compelling package of power, range, and features making it a worthy option for those seeking an electrifying two-wheeled adventure. While its brakes and sizing present challenges, the Cruiser’s strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. For riders who prioritize performance, and affordability, the Magicycle Cruiser stands tall as an enticing choice in the ever-evolving landscape of electric bicycles.
