Lectric Lite vs XP 2.0

The Lectric XP Lite differs from the XP 2.0 in several ways while still maintaining some of its best selling points. Like the XP 2.0 and 3.0 electric bikes, the XP Lite is foldable and extremely affordable. Where the previous XP models are more fat tire style ebikes, the XP Lite tires are 20×2.4 or 20×2.6 inch Chao Yangs. With slimmer tires, the XP Lite rides much more like a single speed BMX bike on pavement but with light off-roading capabilities. It’s more maneuverable and nimble then the 2.0 and 3.0 models but since it’s designed without a front suspension, it’s more limited on gravel paths and trails.

In terms of motor and battery size, the XP Lite comes with a smaller 300W motor (compared to 500W on the 2.0), delivering up to 720W of peak power (vs 850 peak watts) and a smaller 48V 7.8Ah battery. The range of this battery is up to 45 miles whereas the range of the XP 2.0 is up to 65 miles.

Aside from those core components, the key difference between the Lite and previous XP versions is a lighter frame and an ebike that is more stripped down. It doesn’t come with rear or front fenders, doesn’t come with a rear rack and is only available in a single-speed. The XP Lite is also 20 lbs lighter than the 2.0 and 3.0 and comes in 4 color options. It is also priced $200 less than the 3.0 at only $799. It’s important to note that the XP 2.0 has come down in price significantly since the release of the newer 3.0 and is now regularly sold for $799 as well.

Things To Love About the Lectric Lite

One of the things we absolutely love about the Lectric XP Lite electric bike is its motor. While the nominal power may not be incredibly impressive, at peak power, you can definitely feel it. Unlike some other powerful bikes, the XP Lite’s cadence sensor is well-tuned, providing strong power response without abruptly taking over the riding experience.

Another thing that impressed us about the XP Lite is its performance, particularly on hills. Despite having a single-speed drivetrain, the motor generates 300W of nominal power and 720W of peak power, generating a surprising amount of torque. Even on moderately steep hills, we felt this ebike was very capable as long as it was in the highest levels of pedal assist. In fact, the XP Lite outperforms some other ebikes we own with slightly bigger motors and multiple gears.

Lectric Lite Ride and Feel

The XP Lite electric bike is well-suited for light off-road use and provides a smooth ride feel on hard packed dirt trails. As the most approachable ebike in the Lectric fleet, the XP Lite is easy to ride thanks to its single-speed drivetrain and simple design with fewer non-essential components. These features also make it easy to maintain, ensuring a hassle-free riding experience.

The XP Lite has a tried and true design that still prioritizes light off-road capability, foldability, and the signature Lectric frame design, albeit in a skinnier, fun-sized iteration. With its smooth ride feel and straightforward design, the XP Lite is an ideal choice for riders who want a reliable and fun ebike that’s super portable and easy to maneuver on city streets or crowded urban spaces, such as a train or bus.

XP Lite vs XP 2.0

What Could Be Better about the Lectric Lite

While there are many things to like about this Lectric electric bike, there are also a few areas we think could be improved upon. One of the biggest cons is that it doesn’t have a front suspension like the 2.0 and 3.0 XP models, which makes it less suitable for demanding trails. While it can handle some light trails, it’s not quite at the same level of intensity as the other Lectric electric bikes. This was no doubt a conscious decision by Lectric to keep the price of the XP Lite under $800.

Another downside of the XP Lite is that it doesn’t come with fenders, which is standard on the 2.0 and 3.0 models. This can be a problem if you’re riding in wet conditions. Additionally, while the bike is foldable, it’s still quite hard to fold and unfold. For many people, this might even be a two-person job.

Also, like with all Lectric ebikes, the key placement is not very convenient. You have no clear line of sight to the keyhole because it faces the ground, which is a peculiar design choice that Lectric really needs to address in all versions of their bikes.

Final Thoughts

To conclude our Lectric Lite review, if you’re in the market for a versatile and convenient eebike, the Lectric XP Lite is worth serious consideration. As a foldable urban commuter ebike, it’s perfect for getting around the city or your local neighborhood. Its smaller size and lighter weight make it the most approachable bike of all the Lectric electric bikes. The XP Lite’s easy handling and rideability make it suitable for riders of all levels and all shapes and sizes. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just looking for a fun and efficient way to get from point A to B, the XP Lite delivers a smooth and comfortable ride that won’t disappoint.

Don’t let its smaller size fool you, though. The XP Lite top speed is up to 20 miles per hour with ease. And with its affordable price tag, it’s a great investment for anyone looking to save money on gas or reduce their carbon footprint. It’s the perfect choice for commuting to work, running errands, or just cruising around the neighborhood to maximize the enjoyment of your weekend.
